The Prophet GreenADeN hackathon ‘Sustainable ICT solutions for a Sustainable Tomorrow’ is based on the synergies between two projects supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM). These projects are the ‘Nordic Master in Sustainable ICT Solutions of Tomorrow’ (PROPHET), supported by the Nordic Masters NCM, and the ‘Green Skills Adaptation and Development for Nordic Regions’ (GreenADeN), supported by the Prosperous Future NCM program.
The Nordic Master in Sustainable ICT Solutions of Tomorrow (PROPHET) offers opportunities to study abroad while earning a double degree from two internationally renowned Nordic universities: Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT) in Finland and Aalborg University (AAU) in Denmark. The PROPHET program aims to develop experts who are capable of designing ethical and practical ICT solutions that contribute to a sustainable future. It equips students with competencies in software development, technology, and system architecture, as well as digitalization and innovation, all with a focus on sustainability. Students can further specialize in areas such as sustainable digital transformations or innovation and digital sustainability.
GreenADeN is an interdisciplinary project that combines and integrates green skills development for various target groups with IT development. The project operates at the intersection of social sciences and information technologies. GreenADeN ensures a fair and equitable distribution of benefits, providing everyone with the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the transition to a green economy by acquiring green skills. It also contributes to the employment shift towards carbon-free economic development in partner countries, addressing environmental and climate change-related inequalities.
